What price freedom?
There’s a story in this morning that is an old-fashioned country song waiting to happen, but that’s a story for another day.
And there’s a story behind this country song that is also a story for another day.
As I tried to write this evasion of storytelling, I stumbled down the rabbit hole of the story behind the phrase What price freedom, but guess what? Yeah, it’s a story for another day.
For now, I really have only a question based on the lyrics to Me and Bobby McGee, namely, “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.”
When I started this blog, freedom was my main pursuit. I want people—regardless of faith past, present, or future—to experience genuine freedom. But I do believe that what we have does limit our freedom. The things, people, and positions we hold on to tend to inhibit us from total freedom. If there’s something you can’t do without or something you can’t bear letting go of, you’ll never be 100% free.
So my question for you is . . . what can you not bear to lose?
If the thing you can’t bear to lose is freedom, than something else might need to go (if Kris Kristofferson was right, that is). Then again, 100% freedom might be a super lonely place to be.
Tell us. Tell me. At the very least tell yourself . . . what must you hold onto in this life?
